Balmain went back to the 80's with this sex pistol inspired collection bringing us the casual american vests, ripped t-shirts, studded jackets, holey jeans and spiky leather jackets. The models got the moody look down to a T but it didn't do much for my inspiration.
I feel this show was a tad cliche and I am not sure many ladies would pay $450 dollars for a t-shirt they could make themselves. So overall..not too excited right now.

PFW: Day one: Future Fantastic!
British designer Gareth Pugh is virtually astonishing. He captivated his audience with a digital fashion film presentation shown in Pairs on a giant screen at Parc de Bercy sports stadium. He then continued to impress with his futuristic catwalk show presenting some of the coolest clothes I have seen all summer.
It is like something off a star-wars film, the colour is pretty much all silver with a similar faded out print throughout. The colour doesn’t seem to matter though as the way the clothes are sewn together is unbelievable. I couldn’t even try to think of how to put them together! Trousers were tight with leather at the bottoms with zips to get them on/off. Shapes were sharp and very rigid yet the dresses seemed to flow gracefully.
My favourite outfit was a psychedelic silver and metallic dress with trousers which looked like it was made from moveable metal!

MFW Day five : Tribal Mission
This vibrant show by Missoni should have had a warning to those who don't take well to flashing lights and colour. Models walked out in bright clashing zig zag prints, peruvian prints and paintbrush strokes. This was a daring collection which I thought was a nice change to the straight-laced collections we have been seeing in Milan.
Colours were lime green, purple, turquoise, orange, yellow with black in all of the garments to outline them and exaggerate the colours.

MFW Day four: Max Mara- Just a bit of colour
After a beige start to the run-way we saw a burst of colour come through to the catwalk. And by colour I mean very bright orange, purple and yellow!
The show took on a sporty minimalistic feel with sleek yet simple shapes.Trousers were high-waisted and tight, jackets were sharp yet still feminine. Every piece of clothing stood out as it was teamed with a bright colour. I especially liked the see-through white silk shirt which was tucked into high-waisted orange shorts.

MFW Day three: How Very Versace
Opposites attract was the main focus of Versace collection for SS11. It was all very sexy as usual for this show with leather, small part dresses and skirts with splits in them. Shapes were dresses just below the knee, cut away tops with slim skirts and skirts with fringing.
Colours were bold and refreshing yet also a good use of black and beige. I like the way the print which included colours such as red and blue went over simple colours such as beige, it looked like it had been computerised.
I have always enjoyed watching Versace as her prints are unique and there is always something mysterious about what she will churn out next! Certainly didn't disappoint this time.
Here are a few of my favourites for SS11.

MFW Day two: Prada DARling
It was all stripes and weird fury accessories for Prada this SS11.
The contrast between the industrial, concrete set and the mood of the collection was quite lovely to watch.Colours were bright and funky from green, blue, orange, and yellow. Patterns were mainly stripy in various colours with monkey prints thrown in. I especially enjoyed the banana print on a bright green dress!
MFW Day two: D&G fairytale
The show was full of sunshine and floral print, giving a feel for a good summer in front of us to look forward to. The collection was slightly girly, sophisticated and had a mix of alice in the wonderland prints with floral thrown in throughout.
Clothes were long floaty skirts, dresses above the knee/ to the ankle, all-in-one short pieces with matching jackets. There were quite a few funky short designs, loose and patterned.
The elements that made this show stand out to me were the characters from alice in wonderland printed onto casual T-shirts and vests. This could have looked tacky but for some reason it really worked with the floral prints. And Im not a huge disney fan.

SS11 London Trend : It's Long
SS/11 collections are heading for dresses below the knee. A few designers including Jonathan Saunders, Mulberry and Antonio Beradi showed off their floor length creations.
I dont think I will be following this one... the legs need to see the sun at some point!

SS/11 London Trend: Fluoro fusion
More than a couple designers blasted the catwalk with 'fluoro fusion' showing us colour and bold prints are still on the horizon. This makes me happy.
One of my favourite designers Christopher Kane was more than colourful with his collection of high-lighted coloured dresses. Prints were extremely detailed on long dresses, skirts and jackets. Colours used were orange, bright pinks, turquoise and lime green.
