Pretty Plasters

Cynthia Rowley is in charge of a limited edition dress-up band-aid. It’s basically a plaster…and accessory all-in-one!  I’m not really sure why you would want to wear a coloured plaster but the sale from each bandage goes towards helping ‘Design ignites change’. An organization that works with schools in design to address social issues in their communities. So you could say its for an… alright cause.

NYF day three: Cynthia does lady-like sex

It was an early start for Cynthia Rowley whose models walked in with quite a bounce showing off the intricate pastel themed designs.

Baby blues, salmon pinks, yellows, whites, each piece had a unique special element, whether it was sheer see-through stripes, laser cut out circular shapes or busy sequin embellishments. Silky floor length gowns floated down the runway teamed with 70’s necklaces in solid bar shapes. I loved the combination of see through shirts, bold prints, buttons, and mixing two sharp patterns on the same look.

Rowley quoted ‘I wanted to challenge myself’. The invisible striping element and holed out garments were a small push in the direction of sex. She did not want to over-do it, I think it worked as the clothes were lady-like but a little naughty.

In retrospect... it was a pretty good show.

NYF day two: My ruffles are bigger than yours

'The next great American designer’ Christian Siriano showed off his sophisticated dresses on the runway proving he really is a little bit special. From sophisticated huate couture growns, sexy cocktail dresses and swarve snake skin patterns, he defiantly mastered how to create the most beautiful collection.

His creations were daring and he is clearly not afraid to push the colour button. I especially liked the red rose gown which was full of ruffles and UMPH!

Siriano has also created a shoe collection which will be available at Payless…

NYF day one: Mutton dressed as lamb

If im honest, I have never seen or heard of designer Richie Rich but his show was pretty out there! Barbie like dresses came out to techno music, all a bit mis-matched, orange hair, lipstick round the face and guys in bondage hot pants.  All normal I’d say until middle aged women with unflattering boob jobs came flouncing down the runway, definitely wouldn’t let mother out like that.

However, I did enjoy it.

I think with a designer like this you either love him or hate him.The clothes were fun but nothing new, you'd probably see most of it out in camden. Saying this, I was amused to see Ellen Degeneres rock out with Richie as she's up on my list if I was to go there. Points to Richie.

PFW: Day two: aMUSE me

John Galliano is the reason fashion excites me. I would absolutely love to go to one of his shows and see his garments up close and personal. He is the reason I want my own collection on the runway. This year he did not disappoint with his theatrical collection which was inspired by Maria Lani who was an early twentieth century muse to artists who conned them into painting her portrait under the guise of being an actress.

Models came out to a classical piece of music showing off long, flimsy dresses, jackets, ruffled skirts, printed harem pants, sheer jumpers and wacky head pieces. I especially liked the bright florescent wigs.

Mr painty

Just a bit of painting....

Paint onto wood, net canvas, paint onto canvas, PVA glue, string and buttons = jolly good fun!

Art

Here is a painting I did onto thick calico, I had a lot of fun with this as I used a few medias and got a bit messy; mixed paints, thread, string, buttons and glitter. I then embroidered over it..breaking about five needles!
